Life History at a Glance
My Background
I was born and raised in Montana where ironically I
developed an interest in languages at a young age. As soon as I was out of
high school, I was off exploring Europe. Since then, I've spent a year on an
agricultural exchange program in Poland, worked in a children's home in
France, spent considerable time in Switzerland and traveled the world. The
result has been that I now speak six languages, which have opened countless
doors for me, and have hundreds of friends around the world. In 1984 I
began working as a tour director, mostly for Europeans visiting America's
western national parks. That has expanded into my own tour business, which
specializes primarily in small group tours in the western USA, Canada and
Alaska, though I do also take Americans to Europe. From 1989 to 1999 I
worked on Cunard Line luxury cruise ships, sailing to all corners of the
globe. Most of the time was on the M/S Sagafjord, but also on the QE2, Royal
Viking Sun, and Vistafjord. Since 1999 my concentration has been more on my
tour operation, although I keep busy with a variety of things. I keep up with
the cruise industry by hosting cruises occasionally for Virtuoso's Voyager
Club. It's not a paid position, but the cruise is free and I've gotten some
wonderful opportunities this way, ie. World Cruise
